Reduce the Deficit Without Raising Taxes!

Tax Hikes on Job Creators is not the Answer to Deficit Reduction/Debt Ceiling Debate!

According to US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, a deal on deficit reduction and raising the debt ceiling needs to be reached by the end of this week and passed by August 2 in order to avoid a default on the federal government’s debt obligations.  A debt default would be the first in America’s history and send detrimental shockwaves throughout the global economy.

Non-starter solutions pushed by President Obama are dangerous business tax hikes on job creators that our employers, employees, and economy simply cannot afford in this sluggish economic recovery.  The president’s solution has stalled negotiations and as a result, the rating agencies Moody’s and S&P 500 have placed America’s credit rating under review for possible downgrade.  Please urge Congress and the Administration that tax hikes are not the solution!

Our national debt is approaching $15 trillion dollars and federal deficits are projected at or above one trillion dollars a year for the foreseeable future.  Despite the emerging bipartisan consensus among policy makers that we cannot sustain the current path, they are struggling to find common ground on a plan to reduce the federal deficit as part of the deal to raise the nation’s debt ceiling to avoid default on our nation’s debt obligations.

By 2021 interest on the debt, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security spending will take up 89% of federal taxes.

Annual deficit currently exceeds 9% of GDP; according to economists, anything above 3% is unsustainable.

It’s time for legislators on both sides of the aisle and the administration to get serious about a long-term solution to America’s debt crisis that will not place higher taxes on America’s job creators – the American people have tightened their belts and it’s time for federal government to do the same.

Write to Congress and the Administration today and urge them to get our nation’s finances in order by reducing the federal deficit without raising taxes on job creators and raising the debt ceiling!
